Mind opening thoughts
Elizabeth Gilbert, the author, hosts a substack column called “Letters from Love.” I read it on Sundays, and have a moment of reflection.
Today’s post plunged deep into my soul with these sentences: “You don’t need an altered mind to understand the nature of reality. You only need an open mind. And you have one. And an open heart.” (https://elizabethgilbert.substack.com/p/letters-from-love-with-special-guest-b53?utm_campaign=email-post&r=qzh2s&utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
What I have always liked best about altering my mind has been the joy and easy insights that have enriched my life. Altering my mind has been a useful tool. Altering my mind has also hurt me. I have suffered the injuries for the sake of the mind expansion.
Is it truly possible to alter my mind merely by opening it in a chosen and conscious way? Is it possible for me to do that?
One way is like a process, a growth that leads to expansion. The other way is a jolt.
I will have to see.
