Story of two mothers.
This comes from Diane Wiessinger, a brilliant lactational linguist.
Mother A complained. “Mothering a newborn is so hard. If I’m not holding him or feeding him, he screams and cries.”
Mother B glowed. “Mothering a newborn is so wonderful. All I have to do is hold her and nurse her and she’s as happy as a clam.”

Thanks for passing this on! “Lactational Linguist” is new to me, but the saying itself is pure League from Long Ago. I’ve always referred to it as “an old story” but obviously I need to add the LLL label, which might shift the attribution back to where it belongs.
Some years back, someone called me to ask permission to quote me. “Oh, that’s not original with me,” I told her. “I got that from A.” “I’ve already talked to A,” she said. “A said she got it from B, but when I called B, she said she got it from you.”
True story! And that’s *just* where almost all our good stuff comes from. Somewhere else.
